🧩 2048 Tile Puzzle

Controls: Use Arrow Keys or WASD on keyboard, or swipe on touchscreen / tap D-Pad.
📖 Game Rules & Strategy Guide
1. Objective & Merging
Slide matching tiles together to double their value. For example, two 2 tiles merge into a 4, two 4s merge into an 8, and so on until you create the 2048 tile!
2. The Corner Strategy
Pick one corner (e.g. bottom-right) and build your largest tile there. Try to move in only 3 directions (e.g., Down, Right, Left) to prevent your primary corner tile from shifting out of position.
3. Tile Spawns & Loss Condition
After every move, a new tile (2 at 90% probability or 4 at 10% probability) randomly spawns in an empty cell. If the grid becomes full and no adjacent tiles can merge, the game ends.
4. Undo Feature
Made a mistake? Click the Undo button at the top to roll back your last move (up to 5 moves allowed).
Frequently asked questions
How do you play 2048?
Swipe or use arrow keys to slide tiles in four directions (Up, Down, Left, Right). When two tiles with the same number touch during a slide, they merge into one tile with double the value! Combine tiles to reach 2048 and beyond.
What is the best strategy to win 2048?
Keep your highest value tile in one corner (for example, bottom-right) and build a descending chain of numbers around it. Try to move in only 3 directions whenever possible so your main corner tile stays locked.
How is the score calculated in 2048?
Your total score increases whenever two tiles merge. The points gained equal the value of the resulting merged tile (e.g. merging two 16s awards 32 points).
What is the theoretical maximum tile in 2048?
On a standard 4x4 grid, the maximum theoretical tile value is 131,072. This is achieved if every tile spawn is a 4 tile instead of a 2.
