How to flip a video
Drop a video above, choose Mirror horizontally or Flip vertically, and press Flip video. The preview shows the flipped picture straight away, so you can check the direction before saving. Several files can be flipped in one go.
Mirror horizontally: fixing selfie and webcam footage
The most common reason to flip a video is a mirror image. Front-facing cameras show you a mirrored preview because that is what people expect to see — it behaves like a mirror. Some phones, many webcam apps and most screen-recording overlays save that mirrored version, so writing on a T-shirt, a whiteboard or a product label comes out backwards. A horizontal flip swaps left and right and makes the text readable again.
It is also useful creatively: flipping a shot so a subject faces into the frame rather than out of it, or making two clips of someone walking match direction when cut together.
Flip vertically
A vertical flip swaps top and bottom while keeping left and right — what you get from a camera mounted upside down under a shelf, a drone gimbal, or a reflection shot in water. Note that a video which is simply upside down is usually a rotation, not a flip: if text is upside down but not backwards, useRotate Video and turn it 180° instead.
Why this flip does not re-encode
MP4 and MOV files carry a small display matrix that tells players how to orient the picture. Phones use it for portrait video, and the same matrix can express a mirror. This tool rewrites that matrix and copies the compressed video across byte for byte, so the result is exactly as sharp as the original and is ready in about the time it takes to copy the file. The result card confirms when a file was copied this way.
WebM has no display matrix, so a WebM file is re-encoded with the pixels mirrored. You can force the same for any file by ticking Burn the flip into the picture — worth doing only if a particular editor or player ignores the matrix and still shows the original orientation.

Frequently asked questions
How do I un-mirror a selfie video?
Choose Mirror horizontally. Front cameras often save the preview you saw while filming, which is a mirror image — text on clothes and signs reads backwards. A horizontal flip swaps left and right back, so writing reads correctly again.
What is the difference between flipping and rotating?
Rotating turns the whole picture around its centre, like turning a photo on a table. Flipping mirrors it: a horizontal flip swaps left and right, a vertical flip swaps top and bottom. A video that is upside down needs a 180° rotation; a video where text reads backwards needs a horizontal flip.
Does flipping a video lose quality?
Not for MP4 and MOV files. The flip is stored in the file's display matrix, the same place phones store rotation, and the compressed video is copied across untouched. If you tick the option to burn the flip into the picture, or the file is WebM, the video is re-encoded instead.
Will the flipped video play correctly everywhere?
Browsers, phones, VLC, QuickTime and the major video platforms honour the display matrix. If an app you use shows the original orientation, tick Burn the flip into the picture and save again — the pixels are then physically mirrored, so there is nothing for a player to ignore.
Can I flip several videos at once?
Yes. Choose several files and each is flipped the same way. Save them individually or as one ZIP.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. Your file is processed inside this browser tab and never leaves your device.
